Privacy Policy

How the Institute for Global Families collects, uses, and protects the information you share with us.

Who we are

This website is operated by the Institute for Global Families (“IGF”, “we”, “us”), based in San Diego, California. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Information you give us

We only collect personal information that you choose to send us through the forms on this site. Depending on the form, this may include:

  • Family Pathway Diagnostic: your name and email address, your child’s school and grade, academic courses, activities and interests, and your family’s concerns and goals.
  • IGF Family Pathways™ membership: your name, email address, and a short note.
  • Expert Network application: your name, email address, city and country, current role and organization, LinkedIn profile and website, areas of expertise, and how you would like to contribute.
  • Contact form: your name, email address, who you are (for example, a parent or an educator), and your message.

Information collected automatically

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.

  • Site analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors find and use this site (such as pages viewed, approximate location, and device type). It sets cookies in your browser and is processed by Google under its own privacy policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
  • Spam protection: our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a submission comes from a person. Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser information for this purpose, under its own privacy policy.
  • Language preference: your choice of English or Chinese is saved in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers it. It is never sent to us.
  • Server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard request logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) for security and reliability.

How we use your information

We use the information you send us only to:

  • Reply to your inquiry and arrange a consultation or next steps.
  • Prepare for and deliver the services you ask for, such as the Family Pathway Diagnostic.
  • Review Expert Network applications and contact applicants.
  • Send you information related to your request. You can ask us to stop at any time.

How we share your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only:

  • With service providers that help us run this site and deliver your message — our form-delivery service, our email provider, Cloudflare, and our website host — who may use it only to provide those services to us.
  • With an expert or advisor in the IGF network, only when you have asked for or agreed to that introduction.
  • When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of IGF, our users, or others.

Information about children

This website is intended for parents, guardians, and adults. Information about a child should be submitted by a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as we need it to respond to you, provide our services, and meet legal obligations. After that we delete it or keep it in a form that no longer identifies you.

Security

Form submissions are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we limit access to the people who need it to help you. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you, by emailing us at the address below. Depending on where you live — for example, in California — you may have additional rights under local law. We will not treat you differently for exercising them.

International visitors

IGF is based in the United States, and the information you send us is processed and stored in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By submitting a form, you understand that your information will be transferred there.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
